good bye everyone !
I have learned so much from this class and I would like to thank the teachers and my fellow classmates for everything!! I hope to keep in touch with everyone, but for now bye bye! Good luck to you all, and for the teachers I know this was a learning experience for you all as well good luck next semester!
FINAL BLOG
I have learned a lot from this EDM 310 class. Other than facebook, I did not utilize ANY thing we used in class, so it was a learning experience for me! I now know how to access and use everything we went over, and I plan to teach as much of to my future students. Thinking off the top of my head everything I can do now because of this class that I did not know before:
1. blog
2. gmail (documents)
3. vocaroo
4. podcast
5. presentations
6. create a tour with google earth
7. skyping!
and most of all independent learning!
Their are not many other things I would liked to have learned from this class. I am confident with what I have learned and sharing it with my future students. Actually I take that back I would have liked to learn how to use a smart board, because I know I will have one of those in my classroom and I know nothing about them! This class was very useful because technology is growing so much and people can not just get by with knowing what a computer is anymore, we have to actually learn how to use them, or we will be left behind! The only thing that I feel was challenging was my schedule compared with the work load I had little time to spend on my other classes (which I did not like) and the fact that I am not patient AT ALL with technology if it does not work the first time I do not want to mess with it anymore, so those were both things I have learned, and no I was never bored their was ALWAYS something to be doing! If I were to change anything about this course, it would be the layout of the projects. Maybe a little less on all the comments and more focus on the projects because that is where I learned the most. My technology Literate level is probably a medium, and to improve my level I plan to continue blogging and staying "up to date" with changes that go on.

PLE and Two Questions
Man I thought that her personal learning environment was pretty neat! I think she has an excellent point that involves doing assignments on the computer on how it teaches responsibility. I think that if I were to incorporate that kind of independent learning with my future students they would love it!! She also talked a lot about research! I think that is so important that a student so young knows how to research things I mean I didn't really know how or care about researching at that age, but with technology at your fingertips it can be fun!!
I never thought about asking myself that before I go to bed "did I do better today than yesterday?" Hmmm... a lot of times I like to think I have, but I'm the type of person that can not function without doing what I need to do. I think he is right though it is what shapes us for tomorrow. And my sentence well I can't really think on the spot what my sentence is, but I'm sure it will come to me. Maybe when I'm laying in bed tonight asking myself if I did better today than yesterday! :)

Teaching someone how to use technology
I taught my fiance how to use itunes. I chose to teach him this because he is always using his i pod and he loves to download music, and instead of using frost wire, he can use a virus free program to get his music. First I taught him how to download itunes on his laptop, then i showed him all the different categories itunes has to offer, I showed him the music, the movies, the podcast ect. After that it was all history. I kind of wish now I had never showed him this because this is all he does now. If it were not for this class I would never have been able to show Devin how to use an easier and safer way of listening to the music he loves.

Interview With Mrs. Cassibry
I interviewed Mrs. Cassibry, because she use to be an elementary teacher and I love her teaching techniques. Mrs. Cassibry taught elementary school for 20 years and is now a teacher at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Some questions I asked her are:
1. Did you ever use technology in the classroom? No, not so much because back when I was teaching we did not have access to computers in the classroom as much as we do now. She said that towards the end of her teaching she actually had a computer in her classroom instead of the students going to the "computer labs" to do assignments.
2. Did you enjoy teaching? Of course I did! She said that one of the first things she learned when she started teaching is how to gain the respect from her students. She was not their "friend" she was their "educator" and they trusted her, and she believes that because of that she was liked by so many children. She mentioned a lot about being on their level.
3. Do you feel that educators now should know a lot about technology? She responded with a yes. She feels that it is important to stay up to date with the changes the world has to offer. whether it is technology or furniture lol! She knows how important technology is and she feels that if a teacher does not know about technology then she and her students will be left behind.
4. What were some of your favorite things to do in the classroom? She said her favorite subject to teach was science, and she loves arts and crafts so she would always have the students doing some kind of hands on activity involving the lesson plan for that day. She said that that was the best way for children to learn and she loved being in a learning environment.
5. If you would recommend anything to me what would it be? NEVER let them see you sweat! Children can sense just about every emotion, so never let your emotions get in the way of educating, and most important HAVE FUN with it, because it truly is a joy.

Skype Project
I think that skype is a very important tool to learn how to use. It is so neat I do not know how someone can not be fascinated with it. Skype is basically a tool used on the computer to allow you to chat with other people online except you can see who you are talking to on the other end. For my skype project, I skyped to my Aunt Toni who lives in Willowsprings, MO. The reason why I decided to use her as an example is because she is my wedding planner and we skype to each other all the time about wedding ideas and things she has put together for the wedding. I am thankful for skype, because without it I do not think it would be possible to have a wedding planner that lives so far away.
Something I have learned from EDM310
YAY! Finally we get to blog about our feelings and what we think about this class instead of blogging about assignments. Not that blogging about assignments is a bad thing, I learned a lot from them (the blog assignments) and was very happy to learn so much from them. If it were not for this class I would not know anything else about what technology has to offer except for facebook. I never knew how much technology effects schools and the students. From everything I have learned from this class, I am now confident in going into my own classroom and being "up-to-date" with all the new advances in technology. My blog is something I would have probably never learned how to do if it was not for this class so I am happy with my work and all the friends I have made on the way.
Comments For Teachers
MRS. JENNY SHE
Week 7
I have been looking at my teachers blog, and she seems to be a really awesome teacher. I hope to learn a lot from her blog.
Week 8
My teacher LOVES to twitter! On one of her posts she put up the "Twitter Song" It was so funny I enjoyed listening to it.
Week 9
Today on my teachers blog she is talking about task boards and micro-teaching. I think that task boards are a great idea. Task boards are used to keep the students attention in the classroom instead of them all doing one assignment, and getting bored to death, they have different assignments to do and they look to the task board to show them their next step. It was very interesting.
MRS. WHITE
Week 10
On my teachers blog she has a poem on Kindergarten teachers, and what you can learn from them. I thought it was really cute! A few of the learned items are "wash your hands", "Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you" , "say please and thank you", just important basics.
Week 12
On my teachers post this week she was talking about being connected in "jammies", and what that meant was that even though she did absolutely nothing over her weekend break she still managed to stay connected to the internet.
Mrs. Cassidy
Week 13
Mrs. Cassidy blogged about using a Nintendo DS in her classroom. At first I was thinking to myself hmm I wonder how well that went over, but as I read on, she had bought 6 Nintendo DS's for her students. The game she bought was a problem solving game to help her students practice their problem solving skills. She said that it turned out very well, and she made some excellent points because not only were the students practicing their problem solving, they were also learning how to share (which is really hard for a child at that age). I like the idea of using something that children would love to learn from, the only thing I wonder about is if she had any help buying all those DS's because they can get pretty pricey.
Week 14
This week her blog was titled "Representing-It's Where Their At" I really liked this blog because I think it is such a wonderful idea!! The students were to make a portfolio of their work and post it online for their parents to view she used vocaroo which is something I am familiar with to record the students reading to post on their portfolio. I think that is a great and organized way of doing things!!

THE ZAX
I love Dr. Seuss! I think this is a great way to explain to children how the world is going to change! I also loved how he showed that "pride" is not a very great trait to have!
PS 22 Landslide
OMG!! This video was so amazing! It really touched my heart! I cannot wait to show other people this. I love how EVERY student is so deeply into this and I can see how much this means to them! By far my favorite blog assignment!

DEAR KAIA
I thought this blog and video was very neat! I can't believe how much technology is changing. One of the most important things I learned from watching this is that the teacher cares so much about her and that because she know about all this technology she can impact Kaia in a positive way. The photos on the dear Kaia site were so cute! I was very impressed!
SINGING HEARTS
This was such an amazing story!

AN OPEN LETTER TO EDUCATORS
I agree with him when he says education and technology is changing and that this is not 1999 any more! We live in a world that IS changing we have to either change with it or watch is leave us behind! I think that this class is a key factor in helping future teachers UNDERSTAND that technology is changing and preparing us for what is to come, and what to expect from our younger generation who is growing up and adapting to this change from an early age.

ALEX (Alabama Learning Exchange)
I love the ALEX web site! I think that it would help me so much in finding activities or things to do with my students! I like that it is so versatile you can find activities for in the classroom or activities that involve technology and getting on the computer. I would use this website in the future!
MY PLN's
For my PLN I am currently following one of my teachers that i was assigned to for comments for teachers! She is an elementary teacher and i feel like i can learn a lot from what she does with her students. I still need to post a few more PLN's I'm still working on it.
My next PLN I decided to follow Dr. Strange, because I feel that a lot of the things he required us to watch during our edm 310 class was very important. For example I LOVED the ps22 video landslide! It was so amazing and if he did not refer that to me I would never know it is out there. I just think that a lot of what he has to say is education and most of it is entertaining.

Randy Pausch: Achiving Your Childhood Dreams
He is very entertaining he was able to keep my attention! I loved when he started talking about the NFL and what parents want their children to learn from playing sports. He is so right it's not ALL about being able to score the most goals or run the fastest, the most important thing you take home is responsibility and sportsmanship things like that "life lessons" if thats what you want to call it. Another thing that i liked was he had an odd way at achieving his goals! He was thinking outside the box! I loved all the animals he won :)

This is how we Dream 1 & 2
While watching this i was able to relate to what he was saying about communication and how we use to carry around books, we now carry around portable computers. I think that it is so much more useful to have a resource that allows you to do all things at one time. For example he talked about how he was able to write a story about the first year after the VT shooting without stepping foot in a library. We are now fortunate enough to be able to do everything we need to do through a portable computer with the right programs.
Networked Student
How cute! I enjoyed watching this I liked all the people! :) I was trying my best to keep up with what he was saying and what everything meant, but I think i got the message! He was right about one thing we do need teachers to teach this kind of stuff to us most of the things are pretty common sense, but technology is changing so much that each generation has new things to learn!
Network Student Challenges
While I was reading the challenges that may be faced while doing this network stuff, I was thinking myself that would parents want their children doing lots of things on line? Watching and looking at all these blogs are parents okay with their children posting stories online? I may be old fashion, or a little over protected who knows.
Teachers Blog
I looked over the teachers blog and read some things. It looks pretty interesting and i plan to learn a lot!

Comments For Kids
Comments for kids
I enjoy doing comments for kids, because i like to look at what the students are doing in school as far as technology. The blogs that i read are awesome!
Week 4: I commented on a class blog that was doing a science lesson. I liked watching the blog because it was hands on and i am always down for some hands on learning!
Week 5: I commented on a young boy who went to summer camp i enjoyed reading his blog because it sounded like he had lots of fun.
Week 6: I commented on Bryce's blogs. I commented on the vacation he took and all the fun things he did!
Week 7: I looked at a class video and they were growing worms, basically a "worm farm" and they had a lot of worms! I loved the idea that the kids were outside, but still learning at the same time!
Week 8: I commented on a girl that was speaking a different language, and she did a great job!
Week 9: This week I commented on a little boy who was describing his thought on different animals. I thought it was so cute! His favorite animal was his dog Barkley.
WEEK 10
Anasitasia wrote an amazing story about her journey to a new year, the 6th grade. I liked her story because she was very descriptive when she wrote.
WEEK 12
I commented on a picture drawn by a student of a lion sleeping. It was a very good picture and they did a great job at describing what the lion was doing.
WEEK 13
I commented on a boys blog his name is Mohammed, and he blogged about things he is good at.
WEEK 14
I commented on a young girls blog (Jessica). She had a video explaining what would make her good at camping.

Dr. Christie's Site
Dr. Christie's site was very useful and interesting. I was going through all the topics and one that caught my eye was she was using GPS and the different ways you can use it and one was showing her kids how go Geo caching. I found that interesting because I enjoy Geo caching it is so much fun and educational. You utilize the internet, and the GPS. It is a lot of fun and a good reason to go outdoors.
I Pod in Instruction
I pods can be used for instruction in many different ways. One you can record things, two their is music on them, and three the children would enjoy using them.

NPR Blog on Wikipedia
I always wondered who writes stuff on Wikipedia! I know you can edit it yourself and stuff so that makes it hard to trust, but i think that it should say who posts or edits under the source. Wickipedia is very useful and it is a good starting point, but I would not put it as a reference for anything thats important.
NPR Article
Man! Why didn't I think of something like that lol! A Wikipedia Scanner! I think that is a great idea, because it does link the sources back to the editors! One thing that crossed my mind though is "would people be so honest now knowing that they can be held accountable for the information they put on there?"
Wired Story
Most of all these articles talked about the same thing.
"What I Have Learned This Year" By: Mr. McClung
What a wonderful self examination! I loved this article I think it is so true that the first year is when you learn the most, not only from your studets, but from everyone coworkers, teachers, fellow bloggers :)! I really enjoyed reading this it has made me think about things I may have to work on as a future teacher! Thanks so much!

PODCAST!
The podcast were interesting to watch (some of them) I do not want to be rude or anything I just do not think i have to watch 20 podcasts to get the idea of it. It is pretty self explanatory! Don't get me wrong i think they are cool and can be really useful in the classrooms for example I saw a teacher made one for reading with her kids and i thouhg that was pretty neat.

They Are First Graders Are You Ready?
Wow! These little kids are SOOO cute and smart! In the first video when the boy was teaching us how to comment and the very end when he explained what the letters were that you have to type in so the computer knows its a human really shocked me because it was not until last year that I knew what that meant and I am 21 !! I never heard of a Wiki but it looked cool! I still have a lot of learning to do !!
Here's Whats Coming!
That baby was too cute! I just love little kids they are so open to learn and their minds are like little sponges! I learned something new watching this!

A Vision Of Students Today
This video was very unique, it made me personally think about the things that I am going through and can relate to. I can see how the internet plays a huge role in a students life. When i think about it though if teachers assigned assignments online, or allowed the students to bring lab tops to class (excluding this class lol), would students be able to focus on the subject? I have a feeling that is a NO! I know I go on facebook at least once every time I get online. I am a junior in college now, and i have a lot of responsibilities that i have to meet everyday! pay my bills, go to work, study, go to class, MANAGE MY TIME! I will admit I'm not the best at managing my time I love to watch tv :) but i make it work. My point is, being responsible (not perfect) will make a difference in my future, and hopefully in others as well. This message will also help me as a teacher, because i feel it is important to be honest with my students, and I will try my best to allow them to read things that interests them, and is also educational.
Toward A New Future Of "Whatever"
WOW! First off, I have never thought about the word whatever and how the word itself remains the same through media the meaning of it changes so much. This video was eye opening i never could and still can not wrap my mind around the internet. To me it is such a huge thing, I feel like I am just one person compared to millions!
It was difficult to think that when people blog, or facebook they are not really talking to anyone that they are just talking to themselves for others to read it is a very stange, but intertaining concept to grasp. Do I want to talk to a camera and make a video no I personally have no desire what so ever to do, and if it wernt for this class I probably never would, but that does not stop me from watching other peoples youtube viedos.
I see what he is doing with his students, and i think it is unique and educational.
It's Not About The Technology "Kelly Hines"
The article was very good! It started to make me think about things i can do when i get my own class. She made a lot of great points when it comes to teaching and learning. I totally agree with her when she talks about teachers having to learn from their students, because it is important to learn from your students and when a student teaches you something it causes them to feel so good about themselves and i think that is so important! I like when she also said that it is important to be update with the technology and knowing where your students come from and the things they do for fun online like facebook. I'm glad I read this article!
Is It Okay To Be A Technology Illiterate Teacher?
This blog was very interesting and funny. I have to agree with some of the comments what does it really mean to be technology illiterate because everyone has their own version of what that means.
Social Media Count
Gosh if anyone has not seen this in the class, they need to check it out! It amazes me that so many things are happening online EVERY second! This just shows in a couple of years when i become a teacher that the internet will be used a lot more than what it is now and that is crazy! Technology is a never ending system!

Mr. Winkle Wakes
I just watched Mr. Winkle Wakes, and i thought it was very entertaining. It was a unique way of explaining how much the world really has changed with all the technology. Technology is getting so advanced so fast, that if you do not keep up, you will be left behind.

The Importance of Creativity
This video was an eye opener for me, I really enjoyed Mr. Robinson he was very entertaining, and he kept my attention. Everything he said made sense to me, I do not think that people realize how many categories we put others in just for being different. I totally agree with him; creativity is so important in ones life, and as a future educator I feel it is my responsibility to keep creativity in my students. Instead of giving a diagnosis because someone is different, I can learn to embrace the diversity, and create a learning environment that best fits my students.
Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts
In this video, to have a technology class such as this one is so important. Mrs. Davis showed she was open to learn new things , and she did from her students. Technology is changing everyday, and it is so important for one to be educated on different software and different things our technology has to offer. I never knew how to blog until i got in this class edm 310, and I am keeping an open mind. :)
Did You Know 3.0
The Did you know 3.0 video i just watched was a bit interesting and scary at the same time. I like technology and the advances we have in the medical field are incredible, and without them we would not know as much as we do now. I fear though that the computer will become smarter than us, I may watch too many movies like Eagle Eye that scare me, but what if that really did happen? Technology sometimes frightens me because on the internet our personal business is out on the line for anyone to see.
